The Bachelor of Science in Information Science (BSIS) degree consists of courses chosen from the fields of business, computer science, economics, mathematics, and psychology. Special emphasis is placed on systems analysis and design.
In addition to requiring successful completion of all general education and degree studies requirements, the Bachelor of Science in Information Science degree requires, for major and elective studies, successful completion (a grade of C- or better) of the cores, one option shown in the following table, and a capstone course and project.
Core and Options:
- The Computer Science Core:
CPSC 125, 150/150L-250/250L, 335.
- The Business Core:
ACCT 201-202, ECON 201G*, 202G*.
- The Information Science Core:
CPSC 215, 350, 351.
- The Mathematics and Science Core:
MATH 125*, 135* or 140*, 235 or 260; PHYS 151/151L*-152/152L* or PHYS 201/201L*-202/202L*.
- Select one of the following options:
- Information Systems Concentration:
CPSC 260, 270, 430, 440, PSYC 201-202, 313, BUSN 300, BUSN 323 or PSYC 303;
- Networking and Communications Concentration:
CPSC 270, 336, 430, 440, 446, two 300-400 level CPSC electives, BUSN 201;
- Business Administration Minor:
ACCT 201-202, ECON 201G*, 202G*, BUSN 201, 300, 311, 323, 350; and one non-core business elective- (The core business courses are listed in the School of Business section of the undergraduate catalog). The Dean of the School of Business must approve declaration of this minor.
