BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING

The Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Program Educational Objectives

The educational objectives of the Computer Engineering Program are to produce graduates who demonstrate following:
  1. a thorough understanding of one or more of the following areas:
    • design of digital systems
    • computer architecture
    • software engineering
    • microprocessor control of systems
    • data acquisition and signal processing
  2. the knowledge and skills to advance in a dynamic technological environment and to succeed in advanced study
  3. communication skills both oral and written, as a natural outgrowth of their liberal arts education
  4. the capacity to develop new knowledge and new skills, to analyze and solve problems creatively, and to serve in a variety of roles such as a responsible team member or an effective team leader

Program Outcomes

Our graduates will have:
  1. an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and computer engineering
  2. an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  3. an ability to design hardware and software systems to meet desired needs within realistic constraints
  4. an ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
  5. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve software and hardware engineering systems problems
  6. an understanding and appreciation of professional and ethical responsibility
  7. an ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  8. the liberal education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context
  9. a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning
  10. a knowledge of contemporary issues
  11. an ability to use the techniques, skills, and engineering design automation tools necessary for effective computer engineering practice.
