In this activity you will see how Global Positioning Systems (GPS) allow you to locate your position on Earth. The GPS contacts three satellites in orbit above the Earth and each determines how far you are from them and sends your GPS the distances. The computer in your GPS uses geometry to determine where you are on the surface of the Earth. That's why math is so important!

Playing is a great way to learn. The activity is set up so you can play and observe. You will also be motivated to learn some geography. Squeak allows you to challenge yourself and modify the project. Have fun and explore.
