Be sure Squeak is installed successfully on your computer. It may take about 15 seconds for the project to load for a fast connection (up to 5 minutes for a slow modem connection). Wait until you see an orange flap at the lower left labeled Navigation. Click the flap to open and close it and access some neat tools. If you click Escape Browser, you will have more space. Click Browser Reentry to get back your Browser controls.
Park: Both kinetic and elastic potential energy come into play as Norbert parks in his Massive Space Garage. Click on the PARK button to start.
Mail: You will have to understand kinetic and gravitational potential energy to mail a package using the Norbanian Postal System. Click on the MAIL button to start.
Plotting Review: You will need to plot data to complete Challenges 1 and 2 of both projects. You may want to review plotting data before you start. If you are already in the PARK or MAIL activity, click Browser Reentry and then click the browser back button to return to this page. Click the PLOTTING button at the left to review plotting.
Challenge 3: First watch the recording of how to use Squeak to make the objects on the page perform for you. Playing is a great way to learn. You must click Escape Browser and your resolution must be set at 1024x768 to view the recording properly. Click the PLAYING button at the left to start the recording. Then return to PARK or MAIL to challenge yourself to solve the energy challenge. See details in the books in the PARK or MAIL activities or in the additional challenges link below. Submit your Squeak projects for the Challenge to the NASA CONNECT web site. We will post all the good entries that we receive to acknowledge your good work and let others learn from your solution.
After you are familiar with the Squeak PARK and MAIL projects, try these additional challenges. Explore, create, and have fun learning.
